Gemidis is a spin-off company from Ghent University (Belgium) and IMEC (Belgium) and was officially founded in August 2004.
Gemidis develops, produces and sells LCOS imagers and driver electronics for both consumer and professional markets.

Gemidis has gathered 30 highly skilled and motivated people with experience in research groups and international companies to establish the company as is today.
With expertise in IC design, VAN LC assembly, LCOS production and driver electronics, Gemidis is able to address the customer's demands for a whole range of applications.

Gemidis has its headquarters in Ghent (Belgium). Its 650m2 premises include such R&D facilities as 150m2 optical labs.
Gemidis has its operational facilities in Hsinchu (Taiwan), with 70m2 class 10000-clean room for packaging and testing purposes and 75m2 optical labs.
Gemidis also has representatives in Japan.

Gemidis aims to become the new benchmark in the Micro Display Industry for cost-effective LCOS imager production and remains committed to its horizontal business model of selling LCOS imagers and driver electronics as a platform on which every customer may build their own applications.

Gemidis has filed several patents internationally in the field of LCOS chip design and driver electronics.
